Nearly 100 great concerts to check out in Michigan this spring
Didn't have enough energy to do 100, but 92 is still a lot.

After a slow winter of live music, bands are beginning to hit Michigan hard this spring and we’ve got 92 great shows to prove it.
Sorry, I ran out of motivation to complete this list with a nice round number. I do think this is a nice mix of national and local acts. Hopefully there’s something on this list that resonates with you.

The War and Treaty (Saint Andrew’s, Detroit): Michigan’s The War and Treaty will take the stage at Saint Andrew’s Hall in Detroit. Tickets start at $39.75.
Motor City Blues Festival (Fox Theatre): The Blues Is Alright Tour featuring performances from King George, Tucka, Pokey Bear, J-Wonn, West Love and Ronnie Bell is coming to the Fox Theatre as the lineup for the 17th Annual Motor City Blues Festival. Tickets start at $59.
March 30
Anberlin, Copeland, The Dangerous Summer (Majestic Theatre, Detroit): Alternative rockers Anberlin are touring in support of the 20th anniversary of their album Never Take Friendship Personal, with special guests Copeland and The Dangerous Summer. April 1
Deftones, The Mars Volta (Little Ceasars Arena, Detroit): The Deftones will tour North America for the first time since 2022 with special guests The Mars Volta and Fleshwater. Tickets start at $99.50.
The Faint (El Club, Detroit): Get ready for an evening of dance punk and electro clash when The Faint play El Club in Detroit. Tickets are $40.79.

Explosions in the Sky (Michigan Theater, Ann Arbor): Instrumental rock pioneers Explosions in the Sky are taking their live show to the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor. Tickets start at $39.50.
The Hard Quartet, Sharp Pins (Saint Andrew’s, Detroit): The Stephen Malkmus-led indie supergroup The Hard Quartet are on the road in support of their debut self-titled record, with support from Sharp Pins, the emerging solo project of indie rocker Kai Slater. Tickets start at $56.50.
April 4
May Erlewine ( Bell’s Eccentric Cafe, Kalamazoo): Michigan singer/songwriter May Erlewine is touring in support of her sweet rock and roll album What it Takes. She’s making stops across the state, including Bell’s in Kalamazoo. Tickets for those two shows on April 4 and 4 are $35.
Marion Hayden Legacy Ensemble (Blue Llama Jazz Club, Ann Arbor): Influential jazz bassist and Kresge Eminent Artist Marion Hayden will bring her talents to Blue Llama Jazz Club in Ann Arbor. Ticket information can be found here.

Bright Eyes, Cursive (The Intersection, Grand Rapids): Everyone’s favorite sad singer/songwriter Connor Oberst will perform with his band Bright Eyes, with support from indie rock maintstays Cursive. Tickets are $45 in advance.

Anxious (The Sanctuary, Hamtramck): East coast emo innovators Anxious are performing at The Sanctuary in Hamtramck in support of its new album Bambi. Tickets are $19.
April 8
Alan Sparhawk (of Low) (The Loving Touch, Ferndale): Alan Sparhawk, half of the former legendary indie/shoegaze duo Low, will perform at The Loving Touch in Ferndale, supporting his upcoming album with Trampled Turtles. Tickets are $25.
April 9
Bayside (Majestic Theatre, Detroit): East coast pop punk legends Bayside will perform songs that span the band’s career over two nights at the Majestic Theatre in Detroit. On April 9, the band will perform songs from its first four albums, while the following evening is reserved for songs from its most recent five albums. Tickets start at $29.50 before fees.

Frontier Ruckus (Ypsilanti Freighthouse): Metro Detroit indie rock mainstays Frontier Ruckus will play their brand of folk, alt-country, pop and rock inside the Ypsilanti Freighthouse. Pay what you wish tickets start at $5.

Mount Eerie (El Club, Detroit): Phil Elverum will perform under his Mount Eerie moniker at El Club in Detroit in support of his great new album Night Palace. Tickets are $33.99.

Gruff Rhys (The Ark, Ann Arbor): Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys will perform a solo set at The Ark in Ann Arbor, with special guest Chris Forsyth. Tickets are $25.
Jack White (GLC Live at 20 Monroe, Grand Rapids): Jack White’s spartan No Name tour continues with the Detroit garage rock king performing at 20 Monroe Live in Grand Rapids. Remaining tickets start at $112. White also is scheduled to perform several dates throughout the month of April at the Masonic Temple in Detroit.
April 16
Mogwai, Brainiac (Saint Andrew’s, Detroit): Renowned noisemakers Mogwai are touring with support from synth-punk legends Brainiac. Tickets to their Saint Andrew’s Hall show in Detroit start at $37 each.
